Re: type d8 or d9

Floodys wrote:So I've got the best of both worlds! The better derv engine and the (dare I say it) better built D8..... All for £380!!!
Nope yours is the worst of both worlds. D9 looks better, but HDi is too complex, 1.9TD is far better.

Best of both worlds would be a D9 body with D8 1.9TD engine.

Re: Biodiesel in HDi

FarmerPug wrote:ive been thinking, could i buy a berlingo as a work van and run it on the stuff.
A mate had a 1.9TD Berlingo, and it ran fine on Veg. HDi would need Bio.

I know some people who have used Veg on HDi with 50/50 Diesel and its been fine.

Re: Biodiesel in HDi

Stop speculating everyone, there is no reason why a HDi cannot run on 100% well made Bio B100. Many people on http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum are running HDi's on 100% Bio without problems. Yeah I don't see why they run rough, but you will eat seals for a pastime. The methanol content cau...

Yes, smells like a chippy. Fine inside the car, but stand near the exhaust and you will smell it.

Re: SKY Broadband

Depends on the quality of your line, could also be your Router bringing it down.
Do a line check on a BT website, it will say what the optimum line can take.

Re: Used veg oil

Can you use oil filtered down to 10 micron's or does it need to be down to 1 micron? Theres a place that filters down to 10 micron and selling it 35p a litre. You can, but it will block your fuel filter quicker than it would if it was filtered down to 1 micron. A fuel filter is 5-8 micron, so ideal...

Re: Veg oil

Veg Oil lowers the emissions, its carbon neutral, the MOT tester often thinks his equipment is knackered during the test.

HDi is a complex engine, fine when its running great, but a bitch and often very expensive to fix when it goes wrong.
XUD is simple, even a mong could fix it.

Re: Veg oil

I use about 1,200 litres of diesel per year. So that would give a saving of 1,200 * (1.3 - 0.8 ) = £600. That's enough to buy an XUD 406  But hang on, I'd only be getting 45 MPG out of an XUD (from experience), so that takes it down to £300. Does MPG go down for veg oil? Only £140 at 40 MPG....

Re: Help persuade me?

Doesn't matter how much the insurance is on a 1.9TD, the fuel saving will easily cover it.

Re: Help persuade me?

My 406 did spring a diesel leak running veg oil. But the shelf life for the seals is 10 years anyway, the car is 12 years old so was on borrowed time anyway. Was only a small leak. More liek a weap really. My BMW 325TDS had a fuel pump leak aswell, but it was 15 yrs old and 186k on the clock. Cost ...
