Re: New car??
I still cannot be drawn to a new car even if they are better in every way ( economy, safety, eco friendly etc ) because I'm an old stubborn stick-in-the-mud.... My 406 is plodding along despite being abused on a regular basis for doing dump trips and moving shiz for friends* and family+ for a...

Re: Immobiliser fault issue resolved
Well done Alex.
There are the usual places to check for water ingress, and I have to say I wouldn't have thought the window regulator could cause immobilizer issues - thank you for pointing it out and hopefully this finding will help someone on the future

Re: Turbo dismount
The electrovalves are interchangeable, so you can swap the pipes/connector with the one next to it and see if it the problem persists.
If it does then it may be a split vacuum pipe somewhere in the system...

Re: Turbo dismount
Agreed - generally the turbos are very durable. If you follow the vacuum hose from the turbo to the solenoid, you can pop it off the solenoid and suck on the pipe. Use your tongue over the end to hold the vacuum, and listen out when you take your tongue off - you should hear a 'ping' noise If no pin...

Re: Engine fumes coming into cabin
Yeah, the 307 is a bit hit or miss for trouble, and the honest the VAG 1.9 diesel is a corker even if the cars are super dull Plenty of information on here about the potential issues, I'm sure you've had a peek already but before you approach any kind of job then have a look first so you know what t...

Re: Engine fumes coming into cabin
Ah, you mean the sill strips that get kicked off when you get out of the car - last time I looked these were still available new from Peugeot, I'll investigate more later in the day. Sorry, there should be a little rod attached to the recirculation flap, probably long gone by now. Rust isn't a massi...

Re: Engine fumes coming into cabin
Hi 😊 After reading your first post I would have mentioned the Flexi section of the exhaust, it's designed to flex as it's name would suggest, but if the engine mounts are worn then it's forced to flex more than it should and then splits - however I'm sure the exhaust guy would have spotted it. The r...

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes
My 2.2Hdi will die if I have too much with the throttle - it goes 'thud' and cuts out - takes about 10 mins for it to restart, then it's fine
If this sounds like your issue I would like to know how to fix it too.

Re: Part fitting
There is a website I used before called Will They Fit.
https://www.willtheyfit.com/
Have a look on here for the 406 dimensions ( pcd and offset - I can't remember exactly ) then look for other Peugeot or Citroen models with the same dimensions.

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes
Does this only happen under extreme load?
Do you think you could recreate this and purposely put the EML on, just to get some additional parameters?
In my inexperienced mind it's either lack of fuel or lack of air - but I guess that doesn't really narrow it down much...
