Re: Having trouble with radiator fan
It is a bit steep it's not an easy fan to find. I only found that one because theirs a company in Poland that can supply the circuit board and it matched your description for the connectors.
There are other ones that look the same on the pug 407 and shitroen c5 and there a bit cheaper about £130.

Re: 406 1.8i will not start after overheating
Have you checked the fuses under the fuse box? mines a 2003 hdi I'm assuming they use the same fuse box.
take lid off then you have to lift the fuse holder out IIRC you have to spread the fuse box sides out then lift the insides up I'll double check mine tomorrow and try and get some pics up.

Re: Turbo sound??
Cool less pipe work to look at. I think at idle there should be enough pressure to feel a split blowing just keep out off the way off the fan and other spinning bits.

Re: Turbo sound??
check all your boost hoses not sure if yours is 2.0 or 2.2? if 2.2 then check the top S shaped one mine split at the back off it out off sight but could hear it a blowing a gale at full boost.
If you still got brakes then might not be a vacuum pipe off but have a squiz at them just in case.
