Re: Turbo dismount
You almost certainly have one or more vacuum leaks, but tracing can be difficult. It's worth checking all the rubber push-on connectors carefully, you may find some loose, split etc. If you find a suspect connection and fix it, don't assume it's the only issue. Don't ignore the connections to the va...

Re: New car??
Odd thing about car prices - most everything has got more expensive but there are exceptions. Looked at getting a 'cheap' runaround after my BMW got totalled recently only to find people asking £3.5-4k for a basic 11 year old Astra or anything similar. Strangely BMW prices were pretty much the same ...

Re: Turbo dismount
Have a look at this post: https://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=21527 There are 5 electrovalves in total, 3 on the bulkhead and two nearer the front of the engine. The turbo control valve is No. 8 on the diagram entitled "Air Supply Function", posted by jonsowman Can't honestly remember where it's...

Re: Another bargain!
Precious few of us around still.
I missed a couple of the Prescott outings, then covid.
Not been any meets since AFAIK
Guess an actual gearbox would improve it no end if you could get round the engine management issues.

Re: Turbo dismount
Not sure what is variable nozzle. There is some bypass (switch air flow here and there) controlled by diaphragme (#12) from scheme below. The explanation was that it works like simple variable geometry: 22.png That's the swirl flap system to blank of half of the inlet valves at low engine speeds to...

Re: Turbo dismount
Variable yes, geometry no.
Technically it's a variable nozzle turbo designed to allow a controlled amount of the exhaust gasses to bypass the turbine blades.
If your mechanic is trying to tell you the turbo is non-adjustable, he's wrong.

Evening young man, nice to hear from you again.
Does look amazingly tidy, shame it's a 2.0 petrol slushmatic.

Re: Electric fan. How to test if working?
D8/D9 refers to the early or later body shape. Most obvious difference is the front end, D8: https://ci.catcar.info/peugeot/vehiculesfils/FILSD8.jpg and D9: https://ci.catcar.info/peugeot/vehiculesfils/FILSD9.jpg They changed over around 1999 so yours could be either. D8 and early D9 cars were wired...

Re: V6 Minor/cheap performance upgrades?
Not aware of any mods of the kind you're looking for. Personally I would steer clear of any modified filter that results in you drawing in hot air from under the bonnet as opposed to cool air from the wheelarch at that's more likely to slow it down, though it might 'sound' faster. Might be worth che...

Re: Electric fan. How to test if working?
Easiest way is to let the engine idle when hot with the bonnet closed and observe the temperature gauge while listening for the fan starting. Coolant will not boil in a pressurised system at 100 degrees so it will be safe to allow the temperature to rise naturally until well past 90 degrees, perhaps...

Re: Turbo dismount
Have you eliminated the possibility of an external problem, (vacuum leak etc.) preventing the turbo from adjusting?

Re: Turbo dismount
Sorry for the lack of response.
Personally I never had to touch either of mine in 7 years and 200k miles
I also don't remember anyone else having to.
It is likely you will find more information on the coupe website: http://406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes
After the first incident I replaced the fuel filter, engine oil + filter, and drove 2 tanks empty with injector cleaner. At that time I suspected a leaking injector because of the overfuelling. Can injectors suddenly start leaking terribly, then 10 minutes later become "normal" again? Do injectors ...
