Re: I'm back.

Welcome back, smart looking 406 there. 8) Don't sweat over the intercooler - I wish mine looked that clean. Guessing this one's a 110? It is. I wasn't interested in a 90, as the wife has a Xsara 90, and I wouldn't want to be left at the lights by a Xsara. :x That just wouldn't be macho. My o...

I'm back.

Well, after a layoff of 2 1/2 years, I've gone and bought myself another 406 HDi. I sold my last one to a guy in Stoke on Trent, and bought a Renault Scenic 1.9 DCi, with 108k on it, a full service history, and one owner from new. 2 1/2 years and 35k later, the turbo has let go, a common problem, so...

Re: 406 gear link cable

Well,as you can guess,it's a dealer part, and the only one within a 25 mile radius of me that had one,was Evans Halshaw at Huddersfield.

My pocket is now £60 lighter, but the car is now mobile, and running with fresh oil.

Re: 406 HDi 90hp

Useless info time.

I can tell you the the car in question, was supplied by one of the 2 Peugeot dealers near to me.

And it's the same colour as mine, but I like the dash,as it's slightly different to mine.

406 gear link cable

The wife managed to destroy one of the cables to the gearbox under the gearstick last night.Actually,it's probably gone through wear and tear. (99/110 HDi,101k.) The offending cable has now been removed. What cost are we looking at to replace it,bearing in mind as I have already taken the old one of...

Thanks for that.

Although my HDi has only done about 89k,that doesn't mean to say that all is well.

406 engine mounts.

As is well documented, the engine mounts on the 406 aren't exactly the best in the world. So after reading these here boards, and noticing that my HDi also shakes at about 70mph,I decided to do the engine, 'see how much it moves, when the car is stationary,' scenario. I grabbed the top of the engine,an...

The only difference a K&N filter has over a standard one,is the fact that you don't change them as often. You do have to clean them and oil them though, with special filter oil,and it's at this point you say to yourself,is it worth the extra expense of buying the filter and oil,and hassle of cleaning...

Sounds extremely similar to mine.

Does anyone have a good location photo of the rear engine mount?

Do not worry.

I drive artics, and when you floor the peddle, smoke is also apparent in any headlights behind me,and that's even on new trucks.

406 vibration

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do 406 driveshafts have some sort of balancing weight on? The reason I ask,is because I've been plagued with a slight vibration on mine, for 12 months, and despite doing the obvious of having tracking checked, wheels balanced etc,I haven't a clue as to what's causing it.It s...
