Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
Puggy,, how can you tell ????
Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
because the car in the picture has got a intercooler on it the thick black pipe
running along the side of the air filter box goes to the intercooler which looking
from the front as that picture does is to the right side of the radiator.
As yours is a 90 i doubt very much a 110 ecu will work on it , first of all
because it will be programmed to take into account the intercooler also you
will almost certainly find that the 110 ecu is bosch where as the old 90 was
probably a siemens if so then the pump will be siemans system too and you
are now trying to run it on bosch system ....

my 90 has definatley got a bosh pump.
Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
I still dont think a 110 ecu will work with a 90 its just not programed to ,
could you not find a 90 to take the parts off ..... i would still be tempted
to re-fit the old ecu and bsi and see what happens .

Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
puggy's right - an ecu from a 90 won't be happy in a 110 and vice-versa. I think it was only later 90's that have the Siemens setup, but the 90's got 2 solenoid valves & the 110's got 3, the 'extra' one works the boost control valve. On start-up the ecu checks it has a circuit through the solenoid valve coils & if not, flags a fault.
Hey puggy, saw some of your mob flying r/c aircraft tonight when I had the dogs out near here.
One guy had a jet, (some sort of twin boom design) - amazing to watch / listen to.

Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
Sounded like the real deal, (could be heard from about a mile away). It was already in the air when we got out the car & still flying around about 20mins later.
Made me wonder if they know how much fuel's left......

Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
puggy.. ye say ye`d be tempted to fit the original bsi an ecu unit.... WHY ? that was my fault in the first place, if i had to do that I`d need to change the key chip an the transponder as well... anyway fur you guys who`s reading this, im needing the set up fur a 90 horse... willing to swap my gear fae a 110 fur the 90 hp stuff bsi ecu transponder an chipped key, jist the chip//// also i have for sale a high pressure pump, soloednoid, an ma old stuff...any takers... cheap....
Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
PUGGY... ye said this....... Sounds more like the problem originated with
the immobilizer and now thats been by-passed i would be tempted to try the original
ecu on it , it also sounds like the mechanic you are using is a bit clueless and more or
less guessing what it could be . It will be very interesting to know exactly what it was
when you get to the bottom of it .
Puggy, as the BSI an the ecu unit has been changed albeit its a 110.... is it possible to leave the bsi in an change back to my old original ecu unit... would it work with the newer bsi unit from the 110 thats fitted just now......oh an by the way,,, thanks fur yer help. john

Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
Well after reading through your posts especially the one stating your original problems
it doesn't seem to be ecu relatedor bsi come to that .
The original of some lights flashing on and off after stopping and starting a few times
could simply have been the battery dying as these cars are known for batteries dying
very quickly that would also affect the immobiliser , thats just one of several examples
of different things that could cause non starting ...
The diagnostic threw up low pressure in fuel rail and immobiliser fault , could have been
the fuel pressure sensor did he check that ? if the battery had been a bit dodgy it might
have needed a bsi re-set to get the key working properly again , what i am trying to get
at is the other people have had similar problems and not had to change the ecu or bsi , in
fact they dont really hit you in the face as being ecu related !!
If i had the originals i would re-fit them and start over again , after checking the battery
is in good condition , as regards the bsi working from another car not too sure , possibly
but hopefully someone wiser than me can confirm that .

Re: 90 or 110 hp ??
someone quite recently posted on here about running out of fuel which can
flag a low fuel pressure warning john , just using it as an example of various
things that can cause fault codes . I think you have been ill advised by your
mechanic and hopefully someone else will throw in their thoughts on the
subject ...... Lou
