A new conundrum!!

My coolant has been leaking for about 1 month and as winter approaches i felt i better sort out the coolant leak. So i start to take off the front bumper and i find a heavily rusted bolt (not just the bolt but the metal its attached too on the passenger side). I try to loosen it by using WD40 and as i turn it, it twists the side panel. Anymore turning and the panel could break or the whole screw/attachment snaps off. So i cant get the front bumper off because if i do the bumper wont be properly secured if the rusty joint snaps and then the coolant leak will stay.

Also any ideas about the location of the leak. It always leaks from the drivers f/s so I'm thinking either a leaky connection or leaky container.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i don't want to go to a garage.

i found the source of the coolant leak and i now have a replacement £4 from a scrap yard

But as always peugeot design must go against nature and be ridiculous so the BIG question is how to remove the seal?? It wont screw or pull off


I know its rusty but there's no holes so a night of being soaked in vinegar will cure that

I don't think you'll get it apart, the bottom hose comes as one piece!

I feared someone would say that ha. There was a full piece at the scrap yard but some guy came over saying he had bought the car and i couldn't be asked to argue. What are my options? Find a different scrap yard or order a new one from peugeot (can you do that)?

You can still get them, £60 from memory but a 4 week back order unless you're lucky.

What about trying The Parts Gateway (http://www.partsgateway.co.uk) - they put a second hand parts request to a number of scrappies. Whenever I've had parts from their companies they have all been in good condition.

Get a new one from pug as the connector at the rad side has a habit of rotting and the last thing you want to do is go through the ballache of replacing it and then find it leaks. It's about £72+VAT I think I paid a couple of months ago and there was a 48 hour wait. The hardest part was getting to the rear of the engine to do the two little up and over connectors there I ended up putting jubilee clips on in place of the spring clips

Get a pair of moles on there holding the clamp open and it's ok, I did swear a bit laying on my back under the car when I did mine!

What was the name of the part you ordered or the part number?? as i don't have a clue what its called and i tried to use the peugeot part identifier (service box) but they only let mechanics use it

Its fixed!!!!!!!!! with a load of patience, my step dad and his mate and a load of jubilee clips. I don't have a photo of the finished piece but thats not what matters. We hacksawed of the unbreakable plastic clip and jubilled them on. This pipes now long gone
