Hi yes sure, don't understand the mr clutch reference? , but you name it I'll photo it , will add basic ones now , oops no I won't trying to do off me phone, can't seem to attach , will send in a little bit, when I can get to a computer, but basically have a down pipe which goes under wheel arch which I checked is clear, this attaches to the air filter box , which was blowing air out but have sealed now, however further down the initial down pipe just where it turns to go under wheel arch there are three small holes about 8 mm looks like there should be a clip in there or something, doesn't look as though it's been done retro but as though the part comes like that, it's now blowing out of those, can't feel it blowing anywhere else , the two rubber pipes that go to the intercooler are good and secure cannot here feel air sucking or blowing , and same goes post air filter again can't hear or feel anything blowing or sucking ?

Sorry, I confused your thread with another recent one where the owner was suffering unrelated problems after a clutch change.....

This one ear is of the holes in the underside of the inlet pipe from the chassis rail to the bottom of the air filter, mine has these. Are you saying air is blowing out of here? This is getting very strange

What happens if you remove this pipe?

hiya

yes blowing air out of those holes , it was , or i felt it blowing further up that same pipe where it joins the breather/air filter box , which i ran some gutter sealant round (silicon-ish stuff) to the joint to stop the blow as per my earlier post but now it blows from those holes , there is no other air escaping that i can feel or hear, but why blowing and not sucking is a bit weird, she is running like a pig , have to rev to nealry 3k just to pull away , if not feels like she is going to stall no power/pickup , once she is moving and as long she is over 2-2.5 k revs she feels ok not great but ok , and the smoke is only just noticeable in the rear view mirror , but on tick over is terrible proper thick black smoke, leaves a coke residue on the ground, i think its more terminal than a sensor , im thinking maybe stuck /broken valve ? turbo/feeding back ? if thats possible ? guessing im no mechanic , can do the basics , but this is strange . as always any help advice( guesses at this stage) greatly appreciated , dont even want to drive her at the moment as dont know if im doing more harm , but gutted , paid 1500 sheets for her saturday was running great was pleased as punch , now i think its going to be a case of run her into my local garage and get them to have a look and get the cheque book out !

hi all

Well car went into garage today , head gasket gone , cracked head , and problems with no 2 bore , told me not worth fixing , was not sure the top of the block was to good either , so will put a new engine in if i can find one , but you risk that being bad as well, so as per my first post looks like i bought a lemon! weird how it was running so well for the first few days , but there you go you live and learn , i trust the garage theyv'e done my mot's for years and have always been fair.

so off car hunting again , hope i have better luck this time .

Just want to say thank you to all who gave help and advise , very much appreciated .

Oooh bad luck  At least you got to the bottom of it.

Might be worth finding an engine you can see running in the car but I can understand why you'd want to cut your losses and run.

AFAICT, a know good engine usually costs more than a perfectly serviceable car with a known good engine already in it :|
