Glow Plugs

On my previous 306s the light used to go out to indicate starting. On my 406 HDI cannot see any light on the
display although there is a "beep" sound. Also my starting is not wonderful - takes a bit longer to fire than with my
previous 306s. On the basis of previous experience with 306 diesels, mileage and age do not seem to be factors when glow plugs need
to be replaced. Anyway I'll go for Bosch if I decide to do the job. Any comments please and can anyone recommend an ebay source
for bosch replacements?

Well, i've had my HDi for almost 5 years and can probably count the amount of times i've seen the glow plug light on one hand

Yep, HDi doesn't need glow pugs to start unless its very cold. Just put the key in and start it; no waiting.

On the 306 you would always turn the key then wait for the glow plug light to go off before cranking, right?
Are you dong the same on the HDi? I.e., pausing before cranking?
I find that if I just put the key in and start, then its almost instantaneous, but if I wait with the ignition on before cranking then it takes longer.

ive never took much notice of the glow plug light on mine,
i just fire it up like a petrol car even through winter,

Thanks for that- especially rwb's comments. Never thought to start straight away so will try that. Trouble is I've
always been used to waiting for the light to go out after years of 306s. Old habits die hard, as the say.
