Re: hdi holding back
That's the way they are apparently - something like 3000 or 3200rpm
I can't say from personal experience as mine has been remapped, and pulls throughout the rev range, so maybe that's an option for you to look into if you want more oomph

Re: hdi holding back
Hi Ash,
I'm guessing you've always driven petrol cars?
It's all about the torque with these, mine is certainly happiest in the 1800 to 2500 rpm range, I rarely take it over this as it's just flat like you say.
I think it's just the way they are. Oddly the tacho is redlined at 5500 rpm!

Re: hdi holding back
Hi, I have a 2.0 HDi 110 BHP and mine is sluggish up to 2500 rpm and then the horses kick in and away I go, don't know why though.
Re: hdi holding back
how far does it have to be revd before you can hear the Turbo whistle, ?Blue2 wrote:Hi, I have a 2.0 HDi 110 BHP and mine is sluggish up to 2500 rpm and then the horses kick in and away I go, don't know why though.
Re: hdi holding back
The turbo whistles at about 2k but I only notice this most in 2nd gear.

Ah "Nowt wrong with that then, ashgtir wrote:The turbo whistles at about 2k but I only notice this most in 2nd gear.
Maybe your not used to the Gearbox yet once you get used to the 110s gearing you can get them to fly,
or Get it Remapped its worth it

Re: hdi holding back
Defo a problem as I took it out last nite and gave it the beans an it went like a rocket no holding back and boosting well into 4000rpm and again this morning but went out in it an hour ago and my flat spot is back.

Re: hdi holding back
Might be worth changing the fuel filter and air-filter,
Mine went a bit flat on power the other week and idrained off the fuel filter bowl and it had some crappy looking yellow fuel coming out its been ok eversince
