Would this be ok?
I have always had a 25 litre plastic can spare full of diesel just in case. Well I am needing the can to be filled with petrol now so I have emptied the diesel into my car and washed the plastic can out......It looks clean inside but still stinks of diesel......Will this be ok to put petrol in now and then put in a petrol car as I dont want to contaminate the petrol car! I know a tiny bit of petrol is ok with diesel but a big no the other way round!

I'm not 100% certain- but I wouldn't have thought the aromatic fumes of the diesel wouldn't have too much of an effect on any petrol put in there. The concentration of fumes would be quite week as long as you've left it unsealed so the gases can escape- and that would have to be quite a bit of diesel left over to ruin 25 litres of petrol (if you're going to fill it?)- I say: gopher it! (but don't hold me accountable for any back-fires, seal corrosion or fuel injector issues!!) heheMastiff wrote:I have always had a 25 litre plastic can spare full of diesel just in case. Edit:
What's the petrol engine? high compression ratios/turbo/modern electronics/hpi etc probably wouldn't forgive you for it- whereas an 8v mechanical petrol wouldn't notice it

Re: Would this be ok?
i would say it will be fine. i've often used 5 litre jerry cans for petrol and diesel,. i never even washed them out i just emptied it and used it for the other.
it will be fine , fumes will not do nothing.
just leave the lid off for a few hours let sum air in there before filling with petty .
