blocking off the EGR

Ive done a bit of a search on here about blocking off the egr valve, my car is a 2.1 td 1997, the favourite method seems to be fitting a coin or similar but my question would be exactly where would it be inserted, would it be in the metal pipe where it connects to the plastic upper manifold ?

Yup, pop the metal clip where it joins onto the plastic housing, put a coin or disc of steel in there (bit of metal epoxy to seal it wouldn't hurt) then clip the pipe back onto the inlet.

Opened up mine to do it and somebody had beat me to it
