Anyone know what this part is called??

Hi, Does anyone know what this part is called? Its on a 2001 1.8 16v petrol model. The thing snapped in half when gently moving it. on inspection it had holes underneath and a lot of oil around it. need to know for when i order one!!! Also what would be the effect of running the engine without this part attached?

thats the one!! so its called a re-suction pipe? be ok to drive the car i suppose
