Noisy aircon
My 406's aircon sounds pretty damn rattly, works fine and all but never heard a car with such a noisy system, is this normal?

No, it's normally silent, (though I did once test drive a 110 with noisy aircon).
If you're certain it's only noisy with the a/c running, you probably got a dodgy compressor, but bear in mind the a/c will put more load on the aux drive belt so any of its pulleys / idler / tensioner could be the culprit.
