Diesel tank emptied battery drained will not start
Hi All , Emptied tank of diesel and replaced with fresh. Whilst trying to restart the car the battery drained and now she will not turn over , i am getting fuel through the filter and the two hoses' that come off this filter that then go to what i believe is a pump ( to the left of this filter ) , nothing comes out of this pump via the metal hose ,which i think then might then go off to the fuel rail .

Did you have some reason for doing that or did you run out of fuel?Emptied tank of diesel and replaced with fresh
I'm guessing HDi 110 or 90bhp Bosch - the lift pump is going but nothing's going through the hp pump.fuel rail

Fuel had water contamination and was advised to bin the lot .Was given it for free (wont do that again) Has been suggested that a fuel sensor maybe the problem .

Oh
I'm guessing you didn't know until the engine stopped - I think you'll be lucky if that didn't wreck the HP pump.

Im being a bit koi, the diesel I put In was of a reddish colour which was from a building site bowser and was the last bit at the bottom ( serves me right you might say, but fuel prices and all that blah, blah, blah)

You're a fish?
Oh, you mean coy
I'm not really sure what the water will have done to the common rail, I do know it wrecks conventional diesel injectors (something about it not having any elasticity like diesel and consequently breaking them internally) but I would have expected it to at least try to pump something, nothing at all though - maybe it's got something that gives in the event of a major cock-up like the cam followers when the belt goes.
I'm assuming the diesel did get to the engine (Pug, in their infinite wisdom neglected to give my car a water-in-fuel sensor which, given the crap they sell as fuel here, is rather worrying).
Did you clear it out of the fuel lines, filter etc.?
Ps. No need to be a fish, I would too

I assume you've charged the battery!
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.

Re: Diesel tank emptied battery drained will not start
Filter cleared of rubbish fuel and new fuel can be seen coming out of fuel hoses from the filter into the pump , but nothing coming out of pump when ignition key turned. All fuses are ok ,seems like an electrical problem as pump is not energising , is there a connection with battery going flat and shitty fuel and then putting new desiel in the fuel loop.
P.s thanks for the coy correction , and I'm not a fish although the wife thinks I smell like skip load of rotting fisheads.

Re: Diesel tank emptied battery drained will not start
Battery has been jumped as the constant attempts to start does drain it some what.
