1996/7 1.9 tdi radiator leak

Post by samwires »

hi guys/girls,

quick questions. got a leak from the radiator, going to patch it with some k-seal/seal-it as a temp fix. but ideally want a new radiator, my questions, is there a reputable dealer in the north-west that supplies this part and is it a big job to change, ie. for me!

thanks

Biggest problem is the metal fitting on the bottom hose where it goes into the radiator, it can be a sod to get out and refit, plus it can be corroded and therefore need replacing.

Where abouts in the NW are you? There are lots of places I could point you towards for buying a radiator.

The current best value radiators are made by Nissens, I bought and fitted one for a customer 3 weeks ago.

Small world :cheesy:

I'm working in Darwen this afternoon :D

You can get a reasonable price from Moffatts on Bolton Road near the old Infirmary or ring Blackburn Brakes, they have some good prices on radiators at the minute.

Moffatts 0125459202 or Blackburn Brakes on 0125453463...BBC will quote you without vat, they are trade suppliers.

Hi Sam, the bottom hose connector as mentioned is a pig. Your car is similar age to mine, I was unable to remove the hose from the radiator in situ. I would advise that it might be easier to disconnect the various other hose connectors and withdraw the radiator complete with bottom hose. You might find that the alloy part of the hose is in bad shape and will also need replaced.

Have you had a look on ebay? Lots of new old stock items out there for cars our age 8)
