Inlet manifold removal

Post by 406loon »

After blanking off the EGR and seeing the shocking sight of the EGR pipe filled with thick oily sludge I have been thinking about getting the inlet manifold removed and cleaned out. Has anyone done this themselves and knows the work involved etc?

Don't think you'll find anyone that's had a DW12 stripped down, there's so few of us and problems are few & far between.

No personal experience, but it looks fairly complex.

Do you really need to? (If it ain't broke, don't fix it).

you could try some Wynns EGR3, that supposed to do the job without stripping down, just remove the pipe between the manifold and the turbo. Some people get smoother response and better perfomance, I've tried it and all I have is a cleaned intake.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!
