Not done it myself but it looks like it's an engine cover and plenums-off job to me!

Welcome to site, and of course the "Why has thou forsaken us Haynes?" club... (2.0 turbo's not in there either)

From what I can recall it's just a case of whipping the cover(s?) off the top to get access, but no doubt an actual v6 owner will follow up with an answer based less on vague recollections of diagrams than mine :)

as far as i can remember there not easy, takes about 2 hours as you have to remove the inlet manifold from the rear bank of cylinders

I'm in that club too, Haynes' don't cover my V6 Vectra either.

They seem to have a thing about V6's!

Yeah will certainly be a good hours' job if not more. That's going by what the ones on my Vectra were like to change. If you're doing leads as well (which you may as well while you're at it) then it'll take a wee bit longer.

That's a fair (albeit aggrivating) excuse for Haynes, but what about Peugeot? The bloody 406 handbook in addition to not even listing specs for the v6 or turbo, completely fails to make any kind of mention of the estate! I'm just glad they bothered to put a tyre pressure sticker on the door...

3 of the plugs are easy.....!! The other 3 are a pain apparently. I got my local garage to do it.

I have a feeling they do something like 60k miles though? Might be wrong.

I know it's a different car but the FTO I had was the same arrangement, rear bank was 'covered' by the inlet manifold, however the factory plugs for the rear bank were different in that those 3 were Platinum plugs which would do eleventy million miles before changing them.

Yes indeed you do need to remove the inlet manifold to change 3 of them. But make sure you buy a new gasket from the dealer first.

I have replaced all 6 spark plugs on my V6 and as others have said front 3 easy - back three difficult but not impossible if you take great care. You can buy a manual to the 406 Coupe off ebay which covers step by step removing the process for this and other jobs not covered by Haynes.
