Anti Pollution Fault

Hi All
I have a Warning come up on the MFD saying "Anti Pollution fault" and the Engine Symbol stays on on the Dash Panel
The manual just says take it to a Peugeot Dealer as soon as possible?

I suspect it may be the Lambda sensor?
I filled up the other day with Tesco High Octane and it came on just after that.
Plus, it needs a service and this is a slight mis-fire on light throttle, fine on full, being done this week
It may cure the issues, but has anyone had similar?

2.0 16v HPi Petrol D9 52 Plate GTX.

"Anti Pollution Fault" is the pug's default for "summat ain't right" . Unfortunately it could be anything fella, you'll need to get the codes read as soon as. IIRC I've had it 3 times, first one was the egr valve, 2nd was some sensor or other (I forget which one ), 3rd was the HP pump (but that was accompanied by limp mode so that's not your problem, thank God!). Get them codes read Jez, and I hope it's not bad news

Is there a gizzmo I can buy or like the Omega you could do a paperclip test?

HP Pump replaced, phew, sounds like the Lambda switch, wiring....... Fuel Injection System seems fine although do get a kind of misfire occasionally.

You can get code readers cheaply enough off Ebay, or every garage will have one. I've got a USB one that plugs into a PC (similar to this, damn they're cheap nowadays!), but there are also handhelds. Beware though that code readers tell you the code, not what caused it! A few times I've been able to determine the fault but still not find the root cause and therefore had to take the car to a garage anyway (twice with the wife's car in the last year bloody fords!!). Good luck with it mate!

On the misfire, is it a noticable misfire or more of a hesitation?

I did wonder about the OBD units, but as you say they don't always tell you what the fault is - just the code?
My local Peugeot Stealer in Basingstoke charges £50 for 30 mins of Diagnostics, If they find the problem and do the repair then they refund the £50? Not bad BUT how much will the repair be
From other threads I have read it seems like it could be the EGR Valve or something to do with a 'sensor' on the fuel supply rail? does that ring any bells with you?
Either way it sounds like it could be expensive? fingers crosssed.

The misfire is as you say more of a 'hesitation' and not harsh at all almost like soemones cut off the fuel supply? the Rev Counter doesn't bounce around like a misfire might.
As soon as I accellerate hard it goes away, otherwise it runs extremely well.

Still got the 'clatter' at idle we discussed a few months back, BUT I can get it to stop by pulling away in 1st and going straight to 2nd foot hard down, I get a 'click' from under the bonnet and then the engines purrs?
Any ideas?

That link looks interesting. What will such a device enable me to do? Presumably it will work with my Vista powered lap top? Almost sounds to good to be true for the money.

HDI's are not OBD2 compliant AFAIK guys - they didn't have to be until 2004, whereas it was much earlier with petrols.

I believe they had some very limited ELM327 success over on the coupe forum, but only with much geekishness / command line interface and similar sourcery
