I need some help with my 406 1.9 td 1996.Some times it starts the first time and some times it took too long to start.I changed the glow plugs and changed the timing belt etc but it doesn't effect.I noticed that when it took a bit long to start when it starts it works for a few seconds like it was with out diesel.
Is it true that there is a washer in the diesel filter that if it's gone will effect the starting but I never heard about it and on the diagram I can't locate it.Do you ever heard about it?

It sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere causing the fuel to drain from the pump. Try priming the fuel system before you start it next time, this should confirm whether or not this is the problem.
