W reg 406 2.0 petrol Executive Estate engine number

Post by Yoshimonster71 »

Hi all, i hope i have posted in the right section? I just bought a 2000 (W reg) 406 2.0 Petrol Executive Estate model and wanted to give it a good service etc...i ordered some new spark plugs online and when they got here, they were wrong! I contacted the seller to tell him so and he swore blind that they are the correct model plugs for the car (i got 4 x Bosch Super4, FR 78X) and will not refund me. When i took out the original plugs, they were NGK-R LFR5B units and were a good 4-5mm longer than the Bosch's!

Obviously, i wasn't going to fit these new ones in as they looked way too short despite what the seller said. Everywhere i went asked for the engine number and so far, i have not been able to locate it, can somebody point me in the right direction as to where said number is please?...pref with pics if poss. Lastly, the darned indicator stalk only works when it feels like it! It could be okay one junction and kaput the next!...Help!

Cheers, JP

It may be this code, EW10J4-RFR. But if its the hpi engine it could be a different code. My 97 one is a XU10J4R.

The seller maybe correct,

ive had a few cars, where ive got new plugs and the ones that where in was differnt,
it can happen, if the last owner as fitted the wrong ones in error or just plain stupidity :frown:

have alook on ebay /euro parts and cross refernce the plugs see if the ones they are listing are the sameones your parts chap has just sold you,
