engine cuts out

hi all,
i was hoping for a bit of advice, i have a 1999 406 hdi 110 executive, the problem is, when i put my foot down on the motorway the engine cuts out, when i pull into the hard shoulder the car starts first time but the engine warning light stays on for a couple of days. i can put my foot down when i'm on roads, but as soon i get to around 60 mph and put my foot down it dies. i don't do a lot of motorway driving so it's not a big problem for me, it just annoys me when i forget about it and floor it
any advice would be great

Tbh ithink you wouid be best to have the car Read for fault codes,
other than that it wouid be Guess work with out no fault code to go off, sorry you have had no replys btw

I'm also having this problem myself, it seems to do it when the cruise control is running for me, i'm no closer to finding the answer..

i'm having a mechanic look at it, if i find out what's wrong with it i'll let you all know, so hopefully it will help everyone having the same problem.
