I've fitted Ford alloys.... Doh!

Post by PugOFwar »

As the title suggests, I went and bought ford alloys for the pug thinking they would fit! oops  .

However I've made them fit, i've had to use 20mm spacers though   .

I did a small test drive earlier and they appear to be alright, theres no knocks or bangs, no rattle that you can sometimes get, so it looks to be alllll good :D

But.... the car does feel as though its possibly wobbling a tiny bit and the handling seems strange + they rub occaisionally on full turn, but theres no rattling noises or anything :?

And ive had them up to 60mph now :?

Anyone any advise?? Am I just being paranoid?

I know there tight enought because I snapped my wrench nut in them earlier!

you have the right sized spacers for ford to pug fit, but are they hubcentric?
If the spacer is not straight this can sometimes cause it to feel like it is wobling, as can the balance of the wheels.

What size are they? and what profile tyre have you got? these could be a reason why they rub on lock.
Be careful at MOT time for MR MOT man, or just put on the old wheel ;)

Make sure you dont over tighten them. Dont forget they only have to be done up 90nm which isnt a lot really.

Hi, thanks for the reply :D .

They were universal wheel spacers, so there as hubcentric as there going to get! . I cant hear any noises coming from them so...

The front are 235/40/17 and the rears are... just slightly bigger, cnt remember off hand  .

Surely they cant be 'too' tight??

They could rub because of your tyre profile, when you buy 17" wheels from peugeot they fit them with 225/45/17 rubber, which If I'm right will be a bit thinner than yours?

Maybe thats the reason they rub, but the again... mines lowered on 225/45/17 and they still don't rub, and my old ford 4 studs didn't rub either... but they only had 215/40/17s on them!
