i only use gates and i never buy off ebay i use carspares or euro car parts because i get trade but heres a kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-1 ... 35b518b950 but thats just a cam belt kit u winn need a water pump and a aux belt kit

Before you go and make a mountain out of a molehill, do you know when the cam belt was last done?
If it were relatively recent, like less than 50K/2yrs, I would spend the money on drink and dirty women.

The aux belt tensioners might be knackered but you can get a good idea with the belt off, if the bearing are loose or rough, they are knackered, if the pulley is out of alignement then it's definitely knackered.

Getting the belt off isn't too bad, but you will need to lock the top tensioner by inserting a suitable pin (allen key) through the holes at the base of the spring arm, then slacken off the lower tensioner.

haha fair enough. But this car must last for a while and i have no idea, the car came with service history only up to 02.
The guy i bought it off had no idea about cars only bought it for a run about and couldnt tell me a thing about the car.
So far i know the breaks are shot the aux belt is ready to snap any day now and i have no idea about the cambelt.

Its more of a peace of mind kind of thing starting the cars history off again then i know where i am with it and exactally what has been done to it.

not only that but then i know im not going to end up on the side of a road somewhere with a completely knackered engine

Yeah I know, its a piss take to be honest but i like the car alot bar the clutch its horrible haha.
I just cant understand why people cant look after the cars they got!

Like I said though once its done this car will pay me back over and over
So not too fussed just wish it wasnt before christmas haha!
