Called the fellow 1st thing this morning. He said he suspected it was a bad part. He will claim another part from Valeo 1st thing monday.

That sounds hopeful, let us know how it goes.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Maybe this is more to do with engine (and possibly gearbox) mounts.
The new clutch is transferring the rotary 'shock' of the downward stroke straight through the weak mounting points??

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Well, how did i missed this topic?
I have recently changed my clutch, old one died on me,and after changing clutch kit,my clutch pedal have vibration also.
I mean,it shifts gear with no problem, going into reverse also without problem.
I have my own mechanic who is really good in his job and he comes cheap, only thing is that i gave my car to the other mechanic since i was too far away.
Could be your mounts like somebody said before, check them also.
That conversion was expensive,if there is any problem, they should take it back without a.s.a.p

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
I just dont see how, if everything is fitter correctly can there be any other movement, thus vibration, that rotary. Clutch vibration is a symtom of dmf failing cause the bearing on the flywheel fails and there is also movement perpendicular to the rotary movement. Also thats what usually causes vibration.
Also, i have changed upper and lower mounts few months ago.
On the vibration topic again, lets say the in cylinder explosion happens 400 times in a second, there is no way u can feel it as a 10Hz vibration on a pedal. Last few days ive talked to some mechanics that all agreed thats its lousy job or/and bad part. One actually had exact issue on passat, turned out to be damage to the friction plate caused by forcing the transmission box back on which caused the transmission axle to damage the plate. Also other mechanic damaged the fingers on the diaphragm.
Today one stated that it might be an issue of clutch cylinders.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
I m not sure about clutch cylnders, because, just few weeks before my clutch died,i have replaced the clutch cylnder system, master and slave.
Mine still judders,so that cannot be the issue,if you want, check for oil leaks on clutch pedal, thats a sign of clynder failing.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
If that was done at some Peugeot dealer,i can only say sorry for him, they RARELY fix something right...thats my experience with them at least.steve_earwig wrote:What happened with this?rom wrote:Called the fellow 1st thing this morning. Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Seems part was damaged on installation. Garage denies responsibility. Story ends there. Ordered another kit today, got 50% discount (at least something). Found another garage that will do it. They say they will take the engine gearbox down and then replace the kit as there is not much room to work otherwise, that prolly caused why 1st garage damaged the kit putting the gearbox on. Bummer.

You carnt realy say that mate, until the box has been taken back out & parts inspected.
its abit unfare on Mechanics to blame there work as at the end of the day it couid be a part thats been thrown round by couriers or even in the factory,
And another factor to consider is How do you know you havent bought Refurbed parts?
Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
True dat. Even if it was damaged i cant get any money back so... Moving on

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
It might be obvious what they did when the parts came out.
I still don't know where you went for this work but the guys I use here I trust absolutely not to f*ck something up and then tell lies about it. Also I wouldn't take my car to Peugeot (anywhere) again, I took my old 2.1td D8 to Peugeot in ZG (TM Vozila) and they told me the injector pump was dead, I then took it to Purić in Samobor who diagnosed a faulty lift sensor (on the first injector). Diagnosing any fault on these cars requires experience but all the mechanics at Peugeot are young guys and they move jobs all the time, take a sick car to them, they will plug it into the computer and they will change what it says but if the fault is still there they will start guessing at your expense.
I am not sure but I think the conversion flywheel can be used with any standard clutch, so you may be able to sell it if they did not break it.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
You carnt use a Standard clutch with the solid fly-wheels. idont think,
car will shake to peices if hasnt got the correct type of plate, it needs that Damper in the middle to balance it out,
idont think all standard plates have it,

Lozz
I'm not intimate with the contents of a solid flywheel conversion kit. Are you saying the solid flywheel then needs a special clutch with the damper in it?
Does that not just move the damping effect to a different, smaller component which will then wear out too?
I have had a 406 and Xantia 110hdi , both on original clutches at 175,000 miles and counting. Both immensely strong even when towing car trailer.
