the single mass has springs in the friction plate where as the duel mass has the springs in the flywheel, the spring are the dampers.

Update: Bought new kit (same ofc) few weeks ago, tuesday i took it to the other garage, yesterday the car was done. There is no chatter, no violent starts, nothing, car drives perfectly. There is no visible damage on the old part so i cant say the old garege f**** it up. The other guy said that the only thing he noticed that the surroundings were not cleaned of rust and other crap and as it was put on that rust, the flywheel might not have been centered well. On the other side, it might have been the faulty part. I have the receipt, will send to Valeo and see what they say.

And the end, all went well.

That's good to hear. Hopefully Valeo should have a better idea of what caused the problem. You should explain all this when you send it to them - the attitude of the first garage and their insistence that there was no problem when clearly there was, the fact you had to take your car to somebody else for the work to be done and the discovery that the original garage had not bothered to clean anything before fitting the flywheel.

I was reading that this morning on Valeo's website, they reckon there are something like 16 differences to the whole assembly and this is why the conversion won't damage anything (unlike welding the flywheel up...). One thing though, Valeo must do a clutch kit to go on their conversion flywheels, otherwise they'd be just as bad as PSA, Ford etc.Oooh, look what a search brought up - viewtopic.php?t=17237&p=169706
