lacking power again

Post by CBDSonline »

Ok guys.. here we go again.

Serious lack of power in 4th and 5th gear and runing out of ideas.

Puggy 406 HDI 2002 RHY siemens setup.

on my 3rd MAF. 2nd TPS. EGR is blanked off. Changed electrovales. Checked pipework to and from electrovales.
Sucking on pipe work i can here the ( wastegate ??) opening and closing on turbo.
No clunking or rattling / smoke from turbo.

1st gear will red line no probs. 2nd will red line no probs. 3rd will get up to 4500 4th gear down hill / flat road will get up to 3300 and 5th gear just forget about it.

down hill booting it to hell will get me about 90mph. put a small hill in the way and am doing 75 ish cresting the hill.

MAF connected or disconnected makes no difference

Only thing i think i have left is the high pressure sensor on the rail.. 51HP01-01 5ES40006 is the part no i need but do not want to buy a new one as the taxi is end of life in 6 months time.

Does anyone have a spare lying about i can try / buy if less than £20.00 or any other ideas i can try

Cheers fellow forum members

cheers madmadmax but if the sensor was going iffy then starting would prob be a tad iffy but she starts first turn of the key wether hot or cold.. She only needs to last another 5 months as a taxi then she is gettting retired and put out to pasture. All the live data from planet looks ok to me but i aint not pug mechanic. the only thing that looks a bit low is the fuel pressure thats why i thought the fuel pressure sensor might be iffy and not letting fuel through under load to the engine..

Right Bud,
First of whats your car & what millage has it covered, cause mine is a 110hdi bosch set up with 79k on the clock one owner with f/s/h serviced every 6thou using fully sinth oil & flushing. Mine will go to 4500 in first & second if you hold it & 4000 in third but there's not much point & in fourth & fifth 3000-3500 tops if you hold it for long enough.
But there really seem's no point as this is not what these car's are about mine will do 90mph at a push I've yet to find a road long enough/clear enough to try more :? .
But as I said I can't see the point there just such slug's all about mpg not mph.
If yours will do 75mph & your a Taxi with just five months left to use it, just use it & save your cash. Don't see why you want to break speed limit's when your paid on the clock anyway, surely the longer a job takes the more you earn

true enough but the speeds are just with me in car. when fully loaded with bodys its a struggle to get up to 60 on flat roads.
When she is working and on the local race track she will get upto 115 no problems.

Millage is 137k on the clock but engine changed 2 years so this engine maybe has 100k on it by now.
The problems are lack of power and sh*t mpg. On a bad stop start night the computer recons 32 ish mpg. on a good night out of town 60 mile round trips i can eek it to 40 mpg driving like a oap.

Serviced every 3-4 months depending on millage (5000 miles)

I will just have to admit she is getting long in the tooth now but i have driven her for about 80k and just love her too much. Its like a dog lover getting told off the vet that their dogs too old and only has 5 months left before sticks up time.. ..

 those mpg's are not what you want to see being a cab driver, mine is a 110 and in the freezing cold weather doing little more than 10 miles a day over two trips i can get 34mpg and the best actual figure i have on a good run is 58mpg on a 500 mile trek.

You should be doing better than 32mpg once the engine is warmed up i would have thought, have you done the calculations or is that just what the trip tells you? be interesting to do a brim to brim around town top up?

 S**T bud I see what you mean by your mpg, as I said thats what these are all about, don't trust your trip computer it's about as good as the rest of the electrics :cheesy:
Just for the record mines doing 740-810 miles brim to brim on a mix of roads but mainly 10 miles to work & 10 miles back A & B roads & what I said about speeds well mine will do them fully loaded.
I'm afraid that there is so much that could be wrong with yours I woundn't want to speculate with out checking it out  sorry.
