replacement epic diesel pump

Post by jimmyfoo »

Hi, have had my old girl in the garage and have been told i need a new pump as the stop soleniods had it :( . Paul (chap who looked at her) says the pumps are coded and i need one with a matching code ? ......., can someone tell me whats that about ? and, does anyone know if the pump was fitted to other make/models so i can expand my search as at the mo i seem to be drawing a blank :(

Also, can anyone tell me if changing it is as big a pain as it looks ? ........, as capable as i am it looks like one of those jobs i'd be better off getting done for me ? ;) lol

They're not coded, the ecu is coded to the emobaliser but the pump is not coded to the ECU.

It's not that hard a job to do, you don't even need to remove the cambelt.

Start by removing the cambelt cover (the one at the pump) turn the engine by hand until you can lock the sprocket in place with two M8 bolts,
remove the pipes between the pump and injectors, disconect the wiring and fuel pipes, unbolt the pump and remove it taking care not to loose the small woodruff key.
As Haynes would say, refitting is reverce of removal.

Should take less than two hours.

Oh I forgot you need to remove the inlet manifold first.
