oil leaks from cylinder head cover seal

Post by charliedog »

Hello, I am a newbee and inexperienced in maintaining my sons 406 diesel (1.9). I have detected an oil leak from the cylinder head cover and wondered how difficult is it to replace, also detected both steering gaitors are split, any help on how to do these two jobs would be very much appreciated

Sorry have just found out the handbrake needs adjusting :frown:

You should just need to replace the rocker cover gasket, found one here. When you remove the rocker cover make sure you get all the old gasket off both faces before replacing!

Before you get down to replacing the seal check the bolts on top of the rocker cover for having come loose...DON'T overtighten them....they can break off.
