Cambelt Change xu10j4r

Post by xu10j4r »

Hi

I'm new on this forum, i just changed the headgasket on my 98 xu10j4r, and wanted to change the cambelt also, the change went well, but i noticed that the belt side facing the front of the car was much tighter than the belt side facing the bakside of the car.

I just want some answers about how tight the cambelt should be, and it would be good if somebody could send me a picture of how it should look, and if it is possible a picture of how tight the cambelt should be :)

best regards
- xu10j4r :)

P.S sorry about my english if something is spelled wrong, we don't speak english i my country

Hi and welcome :D

Here is a guide to replacing the cam belt.....http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h ... CD0Q9QEwAw Look at view page!

When you have the 6 small bolts loose have the tensioner bolt a little tight, but able to move by fitting a square bar in the tensioner hole....turn the tensioner onto the belt until the tensioner pulley can just be turned by hand...not turned easily (too slack) and not very hard (too tight) the tensioner pulley should just be able to move nicely by hand...tighten the tensioner bolt and the 6 pulley bolts as instructions.
