any hdi siemens guys help me?

Post by rd070707 »

Hi guys, just joined over here. My father is having some problem with his 90bhp Siemens hdi 307 which he put unleaded in last week.

We drained the tank and fitted a new fuel filter and brimmed the car with diesel and it started first time. That day I got the engine management light on and on Peugeot planet it read codes p1113 and p1198, which both cleared and the car ran fine again.

Now this morning the car cut out and won't start again. Same code reappeared, p1113 which is "diesel high pressure monitoring, pressure controller at stop."

Now again this code cleared but to no avail she still won't start.

Any ideas where to go from here? Live data when cranking read 0 bar fuel pressure apposed to the 280 bar expected

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator has given up to me. I've no idea where these things are and how easy they are to change on 307s, hopefully not integral to the HP pump.

May be worth making absolutely certain you don't have a fuel leak - even a tiny one will let the fuel run back to the tank, without necessarily showing as a spill.

I assume it will have a priming bulb? Does it stay firm, or go soft when you try to start the engine?

One other thing you could try is disconnecting the common rail fuel pressure sensor - don't know about Siemens / 307's but on Bosch 406's they will run in a get-you-home manner without the sensor..

Thanks for the advice guys, well I took the filter housing out today and cleaned it up and replaced the filter again with a new o ring as I suspect my father forgot to replace it first time round. I thought my next port of call was cleaning the regulator but it's a bitch to get off.

And yeah I do have a priming bulb, I will have to check if it stays solid when I crank

So I finally got her to fire again, when I was priming it the bulb would go soft again literally after a few seconds and you could see bubbles in the fuel line to the pump but eventually it went.

I will still want to see if I can get the regulator off the pump and clean it out to prevent any further problems. Anyone know how to get the regulator off?

Sounds like it's still drawing air somewhere, or maybe the strainer in the tank's blocked?

Yeah well it seems to be going now, but I suppose its worth mentioning we obviously had the lift pump out to drain the fuel tank of the unleaded and havent managed to get a 100% seal on the screw top for the top of the tank again. Anyone know how to clean the regulator?

No lift pump on a Siemens!

Assuming you changed the fuel filter have you made sure it's all sealed?

Well is there an in tank pump? I had a pump of some kind out whenever I drained the fuel from the tank. Yes fuel filter replaced twice and second time now is sealed correctly and it starts.

Just wondering if I need to clean the regulator as I got p1113 and p1198 before

The regulator fault codes would have been caused by lack of fuel - clear them again and see if they return, but you've probably cracked it.
