17" Alloys on a 406

Hi there my friend has told me you can put 17" 307 alloys on a 406 does anyone know if they will give the correct offset etc... What size tyres would people use? also what are the + and -? thanks for all your help

205, 306, 309, 405 and 406 =15-22mm offset 65mm center bore
206 and 307 =25mm offset 65mm center bore
Offset to the inside so +

I tried a 206 steel rim on my 406, as I was looking for another spare rim and it definitely sat too far in and fouled the rear suspension.

I have 215/45/17 on my car with no rubbing or problems.

What wheels do youm have? i like the look of the 307 wheels. Does it need to be lowered? or do they sit right on the car? Do you have any pics? Is the ride alot harder? What does it corner like and what is stability like at speed? Thanks

I've got five spoke Khan's, don't know what they called.
Mine isn't lowered unfortunately. It would look a hell of a lot better lowered. This is actually the only car I've owned that hasn't been lowered. I can only get a 90mm Koenig kit which I feel is a bit excessive. I'm wary of lowering a high mileage car as you may end up with Cv problems due to the change in their thrust angles.

Ride is a lttle harder with the 17"s as can be expected but not excessively so. I usually compensate for it by dropping the tire pressures slightly. 1.9 front and 1.8 back.

406's handle pretty well even with standard size wheels, with the 17's they really stick to road.
I have yet to reach their limit on my favourite section of twisties. Finding the limit at 100+ on a public road scares me just a touch.

Have to say those wheels look good. you have gone down the option i was thinking by matching the door and bumber strips the same as the car the only problem with mine is that mine is series 2 so it has silver inserts as standard not sure the paint would stick to it. Would like to see a full side on view and some more pics if possible thanks
