Don't worry about it. I had mine knicked when the car was on the drive, put a bit of pipe and 2 clamps on and it has gone through 2 MOT's no problems. As an advantage it does make the car a little better low down.

The police are all over scrap metal theft.
very very keen now,

( New legislation — introduced recently— means it is illegal for scrap metal to be bought or sold for scrap for cash, and now payment must be a crossed cheque or electronic money transfer photo and registration number taken ,

109BHP? So that's a 110 yes? (Could be 110, 136 or 163  ) Looks like they made them with and without. Without is quite straight forward but there are 3 RPOs on the with, plus auto or manual. And the whole system looks like it's different (any chance of a vin?)
I'm guessing it's a 110, as an '03 predates, (I think), the DW10B of the 407, plus it's a Bish-bosh EDC15C2 ecu like the 406, 407's are EDC16's or 17's. I'll ask him for the VIN when he get's back as he's just taken all 7 of them to the airport, with a bit of a grin on his face. :cheesy:

(Reckoned it struggled to climb hills, [in Cambridgeshire] previously).

They've been doing that for a while up here.
the old bill hit them hard. seen one or two recently loose there wagon's.

its only right tho ithink as some of the things they steal to weigh in is just Mindless and stupid.

went in asda the other day and all the covers off the Stormdrains had gone. easy trip hazard for a o.a.p or a nasty fall for a toddler.

There trying to crack down on all aspects of car theft crime.

Someone from my works recently accompanied police on a raid at a car breakers to identify if any of the parts were from stolen cars. After they identified parts from 75 different stolen cars they stopped checking.

Sorry to hear that mate, it's amazing no-one's asking where they're getting all the cats from

The scrap place I use will not take a cat that is not complete ie cut off the vehicle. Also they have a huge sign from the London Transport police showing all the cables that are not taken.

Itook a few Catalyst convertors in following a thread on here awhile back
that they where worth good money

so ihad some lying around in garage off cars id broke in past

itook them in to none ferrous yard and iwas asked for id. they have a camera in office and they take a Still picture of person weighing stuff in
they wouidnt pay by cash either it had to be wired straight onto my bank card

they don't accuse anyone as they've no reason too because they back them selfs up by taking id etc

just like these cash generator shops do.

Our local scrappy is very strict.

No kegs, no thick cables, no cars without V5 and ID - its all paid and sorted by BACS and copies are kept for their records.

Good for part-worn tyres too.

It does seem the image has been cleaned up a bit although I guess some scrapyards could still 'bend' the rules a bit...
