Anyone who drives a car with crack in screen deserves to have book thrown at them by the old bill

isee loads of people who drive with cracked screens.

if it goes all together its going to be like driving blind folded surely?

it was for me on motorway anyway iwas glad it was early in the morning when the ka screen decided to shatter

Modern screens cant shatter as they are made of laminated glass even really old cars now have to have laminated glass fitted if the windscreen requires replacement. The only time Ive seen cars rendered undriveable are when they have been hit by a large object like a flying crate:shock:
The bonding of the windscreen to the car is the most critical aspect. If the screen flys out the airbags get sucked out the hole and you hit your head on the steering wheel instead.

@jasper5 just passing on info that isnt necessarily common knowledge:smile: no offense intended

If the screen is still rigid and the cracks arent too distracting then I would drive it home and then not use it till the screen was replaced. The only time you really need to worry is when your screen gets hit hard enough to break the inside layer aswell as the outside, at the point the screen becomes flexible. A single crack Id leave closer till mot time.

I smashed the windscreen on the Beemer back last year. There was a 4 cracks about 12" coming from the top N/S corner. A small scaffold pole came off a van in front of me on the M4.
A few days later I was driving it a bit enthusiastically. I came around a hairpin and dabbed the throttle so the back end would loose traction. As I went to counter steer the windscreen went 'ping' and the cracks spread right the way accross the windscreen. :?
