406 LX 2.0 V Reg 1999 - bhp?

Post by pugface406lx »

Hi guys ...anyone know what the BHP is of my 2.0LX Petrol 406?

Whats the expected Top Speed?
Mines a bit lumpy and feels like its holding back when its at a constant speed ...say 70mph....jumps like mad as though fuel starving..!!

Any thoughts guys?

Cheers

as its a 1999 you will have the early RFN engine which is 135bhp, should be good for and indicated 130mph top speed ( where the law permits  ) as ive had mine to that and ive got the earlier RFV engine with 132bhp,
when you say it jumps like mad, is it like kangarooing, and im sure its not holding back at 70mph, its not a race car rememeber it will have acceleration at 70mph just not much

Hi mate......the jumping is more like a hiccuping and holding back at constant speeds like say 70mph....you can feel a distinct holding like when in a good headwind.

It doesnt accelarate too fast until 4k rpm then i can feel a slight lift of the skirt and she runs away faster.

cheers

that sounds right to me, its naturally a very revvy engine, and doesnt have any power below 3,000 rpm

My old 1.8 used to do that, noticable kick at 4000rpm. It wasn't slow, but you did need to keep stiring the stick to keep the progess enthusiastic....
