Hi Carl and welcome aboard. 8)

Please add some details about your car, (age, engine size, petrol/diesel), as it helps us point you in the right direction.
We can probably post a diagram of the assembly, once we know which version you have. Does it have a lift-for-reverse type of gear lever?

Many owners have found a gearbox oil change can improve the gear change.

2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Hi Carl. Doggy - it says 90 on the guy's profile so I'm guessing HDi 90.

Looks like BE4R with a rod.

Looks like you can get to it by removing the 4 nuts (70). Might be easier to get to if you take the centre console off - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=11723&p=103790&hil ... le#p103777. Also, if you can get away with it, it's probably worth leaving the knob on the end ( ), I know it comes off ( innuendo central here) but it's a hard pull and you may end up with the gearshift pattern stamped onto your forehead. Just pull the boot up and inside-out.

Just follow the guide, there are no bolts, nuts etc. underneath the car.
