Metal ring on top of fuel filter??

Post by nigxl »

Read in the Haynes manual that ther should be a metal ring as well as the rubber O ring on top of the fuel filter.
Mine doesn.t have the metal ring and I have a lumpy idle, could this be the fault?

the metal ring in a spring to seal the filer on the bottom of the housing so i would be looking at dirt in the hp system as the source of the lumpy idle

Thanks for that. I was looking to clean the fuel pressure reg and also take the injectors out and get them tested anyhow, so I may as well get a cambelt kit and do the HP pump at the same time.
Oh and get me a new spring :D

Fitted a new cambelt and waterpump, didn't realise just how slack the old belt had become after 8 years :o .
Still had a lumpy idle after fitting a new spring washer in fuel filter housing, so removed injectors and had them tested.
One was clogged and required stripping and ultrasonic cleaning and car now runs perfectly.
So yes looks like some dirt had gone forward and caused the problem 8)
Many thanks for the help.
