Going to DeFap...
Ok, I have decided that it has to be done. PP2000 tells me it is blocked and forced re-gens are not sorting it out. Sick of limp mode, lights like a disco and smoke pouring out the back...
So, I have a PP2000 kit and understand how to use it (If anyone has probs loading the software and activating it, PM me, it's a doddle with some help)
I have a Galletto 1260 and software
I have 2.2HDi Non-Fap file (From MrV6's site)
I have spanners, angle grinder, ramps and a selection of hammers, bars and choice swear words on standby......
I have a full can of WD40!
Ok....
So I can get the Fap off, but, where I am a bit confused is putting it all back together again. I should point out I intend to gut it and replace it so it all looks ''Legal''
Questions;
1) Do I need new clamps or reuse the old ones?
2) Do I need any new gaskets?
3) Do I need any sort of liquid compound or jointing compound?
4) Do I just remount everything as it was and the re-map will just ignore all the pressure differentials and electrical sensors?
5) What do I do about the Eloys tank system? Just disconnect the electrics to it and cut and plug the output pipe?
6) Is there anything else anyone can advise me on that will crop up as a head scratcher for the novice as I am good on theory and piss poor on practical....
Many thanks in advance. I have read the 'How to' on here and the Toupe (sic) Owmers Club, but they were lacking in the nitty gritty and assumed some level of spanner twirling ability.
Am I biting off more than I can chew?

Hi, I did mine recently and its a piece of cake - although a ramp is beneficial to get some leverage on the troublesome bolts ( M8 x 30 if you want to get some spares first.. )
Answers as follows;
1) Use the old clamp if its still okay
2) No gasket required
3) No
4) Yes - in fact I left mine for a couple of months post-FAP before flashing the file ( thanks Eric ) although I has fault codes regarding low fluid and needing a regen, it hadn't reached limp mode yet.
5) Leave it be - the remap will sort it all out, and there is an unblocked FAP so no risk of back pressure. Standard and connected looks better in the MOT garage...
6) Wear a mask..... oh, you can beat the CAT out while you are at it....

Wise move posting your intentions on both 406 sites - it will make is easier when it comes time to insure the car.
Do remember though that whilst you have "modified" the exhaust, declaring anything other than the fact that you have removed the DPF on the insurance would be withholding a material fact that would affect if cover was to be given or not.
If you are in any doubt speak to a few insurance brokers before you do the works.

Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Well the time is almost here...
Tonight I have uploaded the new map to the ECU and cleared all Faults by way of PP2000.
The car starts quicker than before, ticks over more smoothly and it feels nice.
Saturday morning the guts come out of the DPF.
Taking loads of pics and documenting it all so I will post my version of ''how to'' for dummies later.
To be continued.....

Ok, the de-FAP is done.....but as you can imagine there are a few questions....
PP2000 is still moaning at me about low eloys level, but I cannot seem to be able to clear this off, now, is this because the remap cannot remove this from the diagnostics?
Or do I go through the reset procedure, as if it had been filled, and give it a high value?
I am also getting a high turbo pressure fault, I am pretty sure though that this is caused by a slightly slipping clutch, which is being replaced next week, but any thoughts on this would be welcome.

You need to disable the fault detection in the BSI as well....

Oh dear, Oh dear.....
Ok I have disabled the relevant bits with PP2000 and it's made everything worse....
I am now in permanant limp mode, EML is on.....
Wondering if I should have done something not mentioned in the guides to De-fap or if I have done something I shouldn't have done....

Can you not enable the bits you've disabled to get you out of limp mode?

I had faults regarding the additive level, and the fap being blocked a bit - but all the faults just disappeared when the 200map was kindly flashed onto my ECU.
I haven't changed anything in PP2000 regarding absent faps, but they are absent when I checked, so I assumed - rightly or wrongly - that the remap took care of it for me..??

I have known of a few cars which still reported faults after deleting the particle filter from the engine ecu, but it seems only some errors, (e.g. filler cap), continue to be recognised. I have not heard of any of these residual nuisance messages causing an A/P fault, EML, or limp mode.

Ok I am back from holiday and have logged the faults showing;
BSI = Intermittent oil pressure.
Engine ECU = (1) Permanent Fault. Turbo Pressure. Turbo measured to high.
(2) Remote intermittent fault. CAN communication. No communication with ABS.
Now the clutch was slipping a little on the drive there and back, would I be right in thinking that when it over-revs, that it will log the turbo boost being to high?
