no runner

Post by dawsondj01 »

Hi guys and gals.
I jumped in my 406 110 hdi this morning as i do every morning. It turned over and start3d then within a second cut out. Now just cranks.
I got a lift to work. Just got home. Same again. It fires up 1st attempt then dies. And then just cranks.
Checked all the basics but i have no diag machine at home so wondered if anyone has had same issue or know any common problems.
Thanks in advance.

Can you hear the lift pump priming the fuel system?

Ah :( I'm afraid lift pump (or the relay that controls it) is about the extent of my knowledge without any diagnostics (damn modern diesels :frown: )

Not sure if that was a D8 thing but... on the suspension turret near the ABS unit there should (may be) a red button, they sometimes trip if you go over a bump or something.

Seems like a lot of generic code readers throw out stuff that's no use to man nor beast. Still, a brief forum search with the code brings up...

Damp carpets - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5338&hilit=P00c8+%E2%80%A6&start=15 -> viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12118

Pipe off the turbo solenoid - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10871&p=96756&hilit ... %A6#p96818

And HP pump pressure regulator - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12319&p=109406&hili ... A6#p109581

Carpets are dry as a bone.
Turbo solenoid pipes are on and in good condition
Will look at fuel pressure this weekend and maybe take the carpets back to check the bsi.
Cheers for the links and information. Will post up what i find.

The pressure regulator on the HP pump often gives trouble on these.
