On my old 52-plate it was F4, mjb's V-reg coupe was F10, IIRC
I'd just check all the 10A fuses

Thanks guys, I didn't have time last night to try it again. Will check tonight.

I drove the car to work this morning with no problem(didn't cut out) - but interestingly I noticed the cruise control has stopped working? This could be a link to the cut-outs?

I switch it on at the switch - light comes on, but when I move the stalk - nothing happens.

cruise kaput could be a red herring but looks very suspect..intermittent rogue electrical signal could be the cause and not mechanical..

The most common causes of cruise not working are:
1. clutch pedal switch / clutch pedal not coming all the way back up.
2. brake pedal switches - there are two, 1 to work the stop lights and 1 to tell the BSI you're pressing the pedal. Not only do they both have to work, but the have to operate in the correct order as you press and release the pedal.

Will also fail it can't determine road speed, (not clear if this info comes from gearbox sensor or via ABS control unit on your car, it's the latter on newer full-mux cars), or otherwise can't 'compute' it's in 4th or 5th gear.

I don't think any of those will produce enough of a power drop to be seen as "cutting out". Not that I've felt them but I suspect it's more like a bit down on power than anything definite.

Still, it might actually be worth investigating the cruise issue in case it highlights the problem.

Still trying to diagnose this problem - but looking more towards a vacuum leak effecting the swirl flap. Will keep this updated.
