quick question!

Post by benjhill »

Hi guys me again,

Had chance to do some work on my new 406 today now the ramp at my mates yard is empty again

Any how when i bought the car i popped the bonnet and the mass air flow doo darr was unplugged previous owner said it had never been plugged in during the time he had owned it for the price i was paying for the motor itself i just over looked it on the run home it was full of power , really rapid throttle response etc , i looked at it again today and plugged it back in engine carried on just fine on the ramp

Got the days work done to the old girl ( sevice work boring!) And went on my merry way home over the moors this is when i realised hang on my car is really sluggish , no quick throttle anymore , no turbo surging me up the hills or very little turbo and she was being greedy on fuel and smoking abit more than normal so i pulled over switched her off and unplugged the MAF again and she returned to normal sprung back to life even managed a little wet road wheel spin by accident honestly , has anyone had this before? If the MAF is buggered will it need replacing or just left unplugged? Cheers , benj.

Just leave it unplugged. My old 90 was unplugged and the wifes Picasso is unplugged too - it means the ECU uses a default setting with good results.. :cheesy:

My 2.2Hdi runs like a bag of spanners with the MAF unplugged but it seems to be a good thing to do on a Hdi90

My hdi 110 had maf issues last year.I unplugged it,it ran better.I brought a new one,it flew!!6 months later,it played up again. This time i spent £30 more on a VDO one.Untill the piston ring went last month,it was still good.I unplugged the maf on my new 407 2.2hdi 170.Car will start, but stalls,so the 407 wont run with it unplugged.
My sister brought a 2000 skoda Fabia 1.9 td 90 late last year.Very cheap as the seller said the turbo had gone.I drove it,it was really sluggish and down on power.I unplugged the maf, just before xmas, and its still uplugged and running great :D
