Charcoal canister problems. Petrol EW10J4

Post by 406Break »

Hi all,

So lately I noticed a bubbling/waterpipe sound when idling.
Noise occurred when the vapour solenoid started ticking.
For a few days I disconnected the solenoid and drove w/o the petrol tank cap.

Yesterday I found time to remove the canister and look wether it's filled with petrol or whats up.
Took it out and it started dripping from the bottom air inlet.
Put it on a stand to let it drip. Every once in a while helped with a little burst of air(from a compressor).
Every time i blew air in it let out a burst of water.
So got as much water out from the canister and also blew any residue from the pipes.
The solenoid itself was also dripping of water so blew that too.

Anyway, seems that idling and running problems are gone. Thinking that the engine was drinking a little water from the canister.
Is the charcoal gone now or will it cause problems?
