Steering or Brakes???

Post by PJ »

Just had the car serviced and MOT'd, no probs. :D

Had the car back at the garage, the problem now is brake judder felt through the steering, also when doing a sharp lock (ie. On a roundabout) the steering is a bit iffy.

The mechanic has checked the wheel bearings & drive shafts etc. all seem OK, he says it's now down to trial and error. A real head scratching exercise. :frown:

Anyone got any thoughts??. Pleeeease, before the bill goes through the roof.

tyres on correctly and on the right wheel?
When I had my clutch and flywheel done. the dickheads at the garage put my directional tyres on the wrong way. Wasnt until a couple of days later when I went above 30mph whilst on my was up to Yorkshire for my camping holiday. Started to get me really worried.
Unpacked, took a look at the car and the wheels were put on the wrong side. Yes it did make a big difference.

balancing of wheels?

worn bush?

something loose?

Eventually resolved the problem. :D

A tyre was out of round, can't understand why this wasn't discovered at the balancing stage.

Had the tyre replaced and voila!!! Gone are all the problems. A pleasure to drive again.
