Lower gearbox mounting bush orientation
Hi guys i've just changed my clutch on my 96 2.1 td the release bearing packed up at last it had been making a noise for a few years now, anyway now is the time to change the gearbox mouting bush because there is play when on off throttle and its split, i think the bush is in the wrong way does anyone know the correct orientation, iv'e an idea the force is transmitted horizontally between engine and subframe please correct me if i'm wrong cheers
Re: Lower gearbox mounting bush orientation
It has the rubber 'arms' go vertically - that lets it move a little front to rear to absorb vibration.
Although, many times I've put them in horizontally as a poor mans stiffened engine mount

Re: Lower gearbox mounting bush orientation
Thats how the old one was and from when it was changed there was play when on off throttle so this time i,m going to try it horizotally like your poor mans stiffened mount and see what happens unless anyone else would advise against it cheers
