peugeot 2.0 hdi fuelling problem - HELP PLEASE!!!

Post by daddycool73 »

hi everyone, can anyone help with this one, peugeot 2004 2.o hdi its actually a van, on full load climbing a hill,
the engine management light comes on. The vehicle then slips into 'limp home mode'.
I have checked the fault codes - 1112 fuel pressure monitoring deviation.
i have checked for fuel leaks, filter blockages, new pump in tank, 2nd hand regulator, more fuel in tank, tank vacuum(not).
Only things left can be high pressure pump, injectors, pressure sensor or ecu, right?
there is one thing i noticed the rail pressure at idle is 24 mba or 240 bar
I have been informed the min pressure should be 25 mba or 250 bar.

Has anyone experienced same fault before i end up replacing everything!

HELP ME, thanks :? :?

Is it Peugeot Expert?

There is radiator type thing under the van with an air scoop on it, the fuel pipes are linked to that, they often get damaged when sloshing through deep puddles, maybe have a look at that, might not be the fault, but worth a look.

Failing that, have a look here, there are quite a few references to running faults on the Expert van.....www.ilexa.co.uk.

They normally reckon on 298 bar at idle as a good benchmark :|

You'd really need a live test to see what's going on I suppose.

Might it not do this if it's overheating / faulty temp. sensor?

Ok thanks everyone for your ideas, still strugglin with it.
The fuel pressure is still 240 bar at idle, which i believe is low.

Starts perfect every time, no leak off from injectors but im not sure about this -

On the crankin test to check injectors i had alot of fuel pumping out of the bleed off pipes?
Is that normal, i clamped them off to complete the test.
Do the filter housings give trouble on these vehicles?
I also checked pressure sensor there was a small blob of white plastic/rubber in it which seemed odd, does this signify anything?

After replacing everything i gave the vehicle a run, same problem occurs, loss of power fault code 1112 pressure deviation.

I stopped the vehicle then it wouldnt start, luckily i had some dianostic equipment plugged in.

On cranking i noticed no pressure in rail, so im guessing pressure sensor, pump or ecu fault?

Anymore help from you guys would be welcomed

Apparently, a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor gives the symptoms that you list, the connector plug gives trouble as well.
According to my source, there is a modified loom section with uprated terminals available.

I hope this helps.

Hi I know it’s been a while but my 06 and 07 experts are both doing the same. I’ve changed fuel pressure regulator on the pump that’s cured the over run when ignition key is turned of but I’m still having same problem as you’ve had. Did you ever get to the bottom of it?
