my 2001 3.0 V6 Coupe has developed a rather metallic tapetty noise very evident (to me) at idle. The timing belt was changed relatively recently - within last few months and I dont recall this noise before that.
The noise definitely appears to be engine related but what is it likely to be?
A. Timing not adjusted correctly?
B. Tappets sticking?
C. Spark plug/Injectors
D. Something broken
E. Its a Peugeot - get used to it
F. something else
Any guidance appreciated.

V6 Tappety Knock Knock - Timing?
La beauté echappe aux modes passagéres
I havent had an issue like this on the v6, however i recently had it on my 1.8. I bought some Wynns lifter valve cleaner about 11 quid and some decent shell 5w 40 oil, then ran the engine (when it was already warm) for 15 mins at 2K revs.... cured the noise completely...
i plan on doing a couple of engine flush's at the time of the next service and re zx1'ing the engine. That should make sure the tappett noise doesnt come back

Tappety noise
Thanks for replies - cured the problem - It was due to the fact the coils where not bolted in tightly on the rear 3 spark plugs and the bolts where rattling about - Don't ya just love a cheap fix. To think I was considering leaving it in with Peugeot dealer
