I have had a problem with power loss and engine holding back on my hdi 90.
I have today removed the fuel filter housing lid and there appears to be what looks like spots of metal - no bigger than a pin head and approx 7 of them. Is this considered normal or is this the start of the LP pump. Has any one else seen this as i know this is common but i do not know how big the swarf particles normally are??
URGENT - advice needed please

metals bits in the filter is normally a sign of the low pressure/lift pump is on its way (Common thing). I am not sure if its ok just to have a few bits thou.
A hint that it is going and i would change it, the cost of the pump v the cost of fixing the damage doesn't warrant not doing it! the bits can kill the HP pump and injectors!
