2.0 16v petrol tick over

Post by richiereality »

Can any of you guys and gals out there tell me how to turn the tick over down on my 98pug 406? The motor runs well with no other problems but the tick over. from cold it sits at at around 1400 rpm and when hot it only drops to 1100rpm.

Any thoughts?
cheers

wait for james lxdt to come along but as far as i know theres
no way to turn it down, does the accelerator stick, could be
the stepper motor that needs a good clean. james will be able
to tell u what may be causing it

im here :cheesy:
right there are a few things that maybe causing this, first of as pyros6546 said, clean the stepper motor and throttle body, your warm idle speed is the problem, ive had two 2.0 16v 406's and they both idle arround 1500rpm when cold, but when warm they should be steady at 1000rpm
if cleaning the stepper doesnt cure it you will need a new stepper motor

Nice one

Thanks for the advice
Ive had a mess about with it and gave the stepper motor and the inlet throttle linkage a good a old clean and spay of wd40 (only took me 10mins) and bingo- a warm idle of about 950rpm :P

Thanks again
