Post by sriturbO »

rear back plates on my 4006 sri turbo are fecked and i need new ones as the handbrake shoes are not being retained properly in the right place making it quite dangerous to use at the moment

i doubt anywhere other than a main dealer would do them. have you tried a decent pug breakers for a second hand pair?

I had the same thing on my D8, never seen it before no matter how rusty the rest of the car. I tried to have them replaced by a local chap but it was all looking too expensive so I had the guy weld them up. They do look crap tho.

The wost thing is you'll probably need to get new hubs as well, it all ends up silly money.

Don't forget the hub bearings, I seem to remember they're about £90 a pop

(note to self: must clean up the D9's backplates)

It pretty much looks like it I'm afraid, the backplate bolts are hidden by the hub so the backplate isn't going to clear it. Haynes (Book of Lies) says the bearings will almost certainly be damaged by the removal process. I guess that means either the rollers will be graunched into their tracks or the bearing will actually break.

Unless I'm mad, of course.
