The problem is exactly above can move the gear stick around like i'm stirring a pot o soup cant engage a single gear it just went god knows what is wrong but hope fully something minor not a huge replacement part. I'm f*cked fi last night i had to push her 1/2 mile to my parents house wi the bird steering and the kids going mental cause it was dinner time. so anyone got a clue plz reply cause the garages up here are shoddy rip-off merchants and i'd rather know so i cant get charged a serious amount.

Nightmare! Hopefully it's the linkages, not sure if yours is rods or cables but maybe you'll be able to see something if you watch them while someone stirs the gearstick. You'll probably have to remove the air cleaner to get a better look.

i thought it might be the gear linkage a mechanic mate of my dads is coming round tomorrow and he's saying that he's had quite a few pugs in the past few months with the exact same gear linkage problems but until he can see the car he's only assuming hopefully its no gonna cost 2 much to sort :cry:

got the car bk 3 linkages were broken or near enuff. The guy had to take a grinder to certain parts cause they were either rusted or f*cked £60 for the lot to be fixed happy to pay it and get my car bk, now to start on the list of things that needed sorting.

That's a relief, I'll bet it feels better than it did too!

Similar thing happened to me once, although I managed to select a gear after a bit of stiring. Reverse, of course :roll:
